The project team are excited to have secured licences to screen two films as part of the forthcoming Audio-Visual Archives Conference at the British Library in July. Each film will be preceded by a session previewing the music and offering new insight into the creation and development of part of the film score.
The conference will open on the evening of Friday 17 July with a screening of the recent film Still Alice (2014), preceded by an interview with the film’s composer, Ilan Eshkeri. Eshkeri will be in conversation with project Co-Investigator Dr Ian Sapiro, and will discuss the development of the score. The interview will also feature live performance of parts of the score by members of the London Metropolitan Orchestra, and a short performance of part of a suite created from the film’s music.
The final session of the conference on Saturday 18 July will comprise an illustrated lecture by the project team on Trevor Jones’s score for In the Name of the Father (1993), followed by a screening of the picture. The pre-screening session will introduce and draw on unique archival materials to help show how Jones’s work on the picture developed to the final soundtrack.
